New Golden City is a straightforward Chinese and dumpling restaurant tucked inside the same complex as 99 Ranch Market in Rowland Heights. True to its no-frills setting, the space is compact and functional, prioritizing hearty flavors over ambiance. If you come here, expect a casual, bustling environment where the focus is clearly on the food, not decor or fancy service.

This spot is ideal for those craving authentic, homestyle Chinese dishes, with lots of options spanning noodles, dumplings, and classic entrees. The menu leans toward hearty and comforting plates like pot sticker dumplings, house special chicken, and noodle soups such as spicy seafood or beef soup noodle. Dumpling lovers, especially, will find plenty to enjoy, including various steamed and fried varieties.

Visitors tend to gravitate here during lunch and dinner rushes, so it’s often busy and noisy, which can mean wait times for seating. However, that turnover ensures food arrives fresh and hot to small tables that quickly fill with plates. While the staff won’t be overly attentive or showy, service is generally efficient enough to keep the line moving. If you find yourself waiting for a table, a quick browse through 99 Ranch Market next door is a common way locals pass the time.

New Golden City suits groups or families looking for solid, flavorful Chinese comfort food without fuss. It’s less about an evening out and more about a reliable meal that hits familiar tastes, especially if you appreciate dishes like shredded pork with bean curd or the pared-down, satisfying cucumber salad. The space works well if you don’t mind a lively, no-nonsense kid-friendly spot mainly focused on getting food on the table. Expect a practical, everyday dining experience where the flavors do the talking.

It is located inside the building which also house the 99 Ranch Market. A Tiny little Chinese Diner but cooks up some big flavors. There is no ambiance worth mentioning, same goes to the service, just adequate. We ordered these great tasting dishes, the small table quickly crowded up as the dishes arrive. 1) Sauteed Shrimp in White Sauce: Excellent. 2) Stir Fried Rice Cake with Sliced Pork in Brown Sauce: Excellent. 3) Fish and Leek Steamed Dumplings: Excellent. 4) Sliced Pork Noodle: Disappointing. Judging from this bowl of noodles was the first order on our table in a short two minutes, I'm pretty sure they pre-cooked the noodles, it's been sitting in the kitchen getting cold, they just poured the hot toppings and soup on top, the result is you get as bowl of warm noodles, not fresh-cooked hot as it should be. Lacking the sense of finesse. Also, I don't think they have soda fountains, so, you might get a cup of ice and a can of soda. All in all, good food, not much else.

One of our favorite authentic Chinese Restaurants. Love their fast and friendly service. It's gets pretty busy so there's a chance you have to wait for a table. If so, go grocery shopping at 99 ranch.

My family has eaten here for a while. We love their puff shrimp in a sweet and spicy sauce, pot stickers, and sweet and sour soup. The beef onion pancake roll is pretty tasty but the pancake to beef ratio is too high. The cucumber salad and veggie dumplings — ok but can pass. All in all a very solid place and recommend going. I would give a 4.5 if I could.

Very crowded during lunch or dinner time. Expect long waiting time before you get seated. First time tried this restaurant. Got it from Yelp good reviews. Menu was quite varied. Taste was good. Prices moderate but customer service was horrible. The waitresses was not too friendly, maybe because it's busy hours.

Here for their famous Black Bean Noodle and house special chicken (marinated chicken with cucumber). Very nice combo for two people while the jajangmyeon is one of the best in town if you are craving for black bean noodles and the portion of the chick is very generous for the price. Not a fancy restaurant but the one you will keep coming back.

Food: 4* Service: 5* Ambiance: 3* Stopped by here for dinner and we were not disappointed. All the food was fresh, tasty, and ample. We were a party of 8, so we ordered and good amount of food. Everything was great. The orange chicken was not as sweet as others and was really good. Food break down: The hot and sour soup was delicious, tasty and hit the spot. The sliced fish in Szechwan sauce was fantastic. The fish was perfectly cooked and the heat was the right amount of spice and flavor. The pork and cabbage dumplings were juicy and tender. I wished I ordered two orders of this. The combination sautéed noodles was great as well. A good mix of pork, chicken, and seafood with a nice light sauce. Very tasty. The pan seared green beans were delicious. Tender crisp with “the breath” of the wok which was slightly smokey. Always a favorite. The combination fried rice was tasty and a good balance of flavors. For the rice lovers. The braised eggplant was a surprise hit. Eggplant can be bland but this wasn’t. It had a nice blend of spice and flavor, and was a hit. The beef with broccoli was delicious as well. Tasty and packed with tender crisp broccoli. The service was great. The owner lady was attentive, helpful and gave good recommendations (sliced fish, hot and sour soup). The ambience was dated, but clean. No A/C made it hot while eating. All in all a great meal.
